In mid-May, the western Iraqi town of Ramadi has fallen to Islamic State. Lots of questions remain about the capacity of the country, but also of the international coalition, to deal with the expansion of the Islamic State.
An international conference on the conflict in Iraq will take place in Paris on June 2. More than 20 countries will attend the conference to discuss about the serious situation in Iraq. There is an emergency to reassess the strategy, to reinforce and to coordinate the means of action. To face the terror, the military response has to be efficient and nimble.
But the fight against the Islamic State has to go through the search of a political solution of reconciliation in the long-term of the country. To respond to today threats, it is necessary to prepare tomorrow.
